Elliott C. Back: Internet & Technology

And one for my Nunchuk-y Brother

Posted in Family by Elliott Back on September 28th, 2004.

My brother Andrew Back has gone Jay Chou on us, and wants to kill himself with martial arts weapons he can’t possibly use:

Andrew: lemme do some research
Elliott: What sort of thing?
Andrew: weapon
Elliott: You want like a sai?
Andrew: actually, probably just num chucks
Elliott: Nunchuks are hard to use.
Andrew: i know
Andrew: but with practice… :)
Elliott: Oh!
Andrew: but how ’bout them ‘chucks?
Elliott: http://www.lyon-martial-arts.com/buy/wp-si-07
Andrew: ahhh
Andrew: hey, the nunchukus are a lot cheaper than the Sai
Elliott: They’re more dangerous.
Andrew: and as a result more fun
Elliott: I can’t use a pair of nunchucks without hurting myself.
Andrew: the pain makes you try harder
Elliott: Uhhhh
Andrew: it would be a fun experience
Elliott: Er….
Andrew: i could just spend christmas break smashing myself up 8-)

Says Zhou Jie Lun,

What weapon do I like the most?
The Nun-chuks, gentle yet firm
I want to go to Henan Sung Mountain
To learn Shao-lin and Wu Tang

Fo real. Tha Shizzolator!!

Go check out Tha Shizzolator, a cute web bot that guarantees a translation from nice english to Snoop Dogg's own peculiar brand of nonsense. My favorite? The translation off my 404 page:

Page rendered in: 2.9914E-05s, know what I'm sayin'?

Carried Away decided to translate the 10 commandments, and as always, Scoble had it first. Even Eric Meyer was playing with it. But here's the golden rule:

So in everything, do others what yo' ass would has 'em do yo' ass, fo' this sums up da Law 'n da Prophets

I don't know if this will help evangelism on the street, or not…..

Dell / Gateway Girl Returns

Posted in Photo by Elliott Back on September 17th, 2004.

Remember the Dell/Gateway stock image girl? Well, she’s back at ApplyESL.com and the UPS store. The Inquirer also has a spot. I wonder where else we’ll see her!

Update: Additional spottings

With this much exposure, that stock model has to be wishing she didn’t give up rights to the image! The original images are taken by Doug Menuez, and reside in the Getty collections.
