Blog software updates
So, the Wordpress customization is coming along well. Here’s what’s new and hot:
I have installed and configured Staticize 2.5 to cache the dynamic content. This cuts the server response time by 1/5, from 1 second to around .170 seconds, which I appreciate. On the other hand, the rotating header is not inserted in between the cache deletion and the first hit, but is written into the cache for the second hit. Because of this, I am simply caching the header now, which will update with each new post, and for each different section. But no more hitting refresh, guys. If you’re interested in configuring it yourself, see Time flies.
Comments will now automatically subscribe you to them via email. If you post a comment, be prepared to follow the resulting thread. Of course, the email gives you an unsubscribe link.
There are now proper author sections for each author, with archives. That’s all for now, but those are important, I think. I’m concerned about the caching plugin, which I think I’ll improve after I get some free time. And, I showed my mother how to log in! Hopefully, family posts to come.
