Elliott C. Back: In Aere Aedificare

Re: FridayQ: Read

Following Neil Turner’s lead, I’ll take a hack at this meme:

Who is your one favorite author and why is their work so appealing to you?

Isaac Asimov. He envisions scenarios between technology and humans that are so far sighted you almost believe they’ll never happen, even though you know they inevitably will, someday.

What are your two favorite literary subjects and why is reading about them interesting to you?

Law & Fantasy. Law novels tickle my mind, Fantasy is a nice escape into the imagination.

What are your three favorite books and why are each of them special to you?

Dune, The Aeneid, and Philip Pullman’s The Golden Compass. Dune is classic scifi, brilliantly written, and totally weird. The Aeneid has the most intense intellectual style of any classic “novel,” while The Golden Compass is a children’s book that’s really for adults.

FQ AUTHOR: If you had to write a book, what genre of book would you pen (mystery, romance, science fiction, biography, etc.) and what would it be about?

I’d end up writing a non-fiction computer book about some sort of interesting story or hack.
