Bloglines Down

Posted in Spam by Elliott Back on April 16th, 2005.

For some reason, bloglines is down. It thinks my user doesn’t exist. I guess it’s not ready for primetime, yet. There’s no mention of this on their blog, either. Shouldn’t such a large service be a little more accountable and forthcoming to their users? I want to see a status report on the front page when something like this happens!

I’m not the only one:

Update:

It’s back up, and there is an official announcement, which reads:

This morning, one of our user databases suffered a failure that wasn’t detected by our monitoring systems. This resulted in the inability of people to log into their Bloglines accounts. The database has been reset and no data was lost. We apologize for the issue and we’re looking at ways to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

Update 2:

They’ve replaced their pages with a picture of a plumber and this text:

Hi,
I’m the Bloglines Plumber. Bloglines is down for a little fixer upper. We will be back by 10:00Pm Pacific Time tonight, Saturday April 16, 2005. Bloglines will be all better when I’m done with it.

Thanks,
The Bloglines Plumber
