I did something really dumb today
I’m pretty tired today. I walked to and from the gym, 2+ miles each way, and then ran there for another mile. That’s 5 or 6 miles of walking, plus all weightlifting I did. My body and mind are tired. I’ve had a long work-week, everyday using my brain to write and design documents and databases for my project. And, it was after 9 PM when she called.
So, my girlfriend called exitedly to tell me a boring fact or two about her day, and then about how she got her ears pierced. “Whoah,” I thought. “That’s really surprising.” See, every time we were at the mall, I’d tease her and offer to buy her nice earrings if she got her ears pierced. My darling is also presents a tomboy fascade much of the time, even though she’s actually quite feminine. The last fact–my birthday’s coming up very soon.
When you couple these three things together, you realize how I should have reacted with more than just a shocked silence, and “you really got your ears pierced?”
I’m stupid, most of the time. Coding all probably doesn’t help my sensitive side. I think I am developing the subtlety of a rock. I’ll devote tomorrow to making up for this stupidity of mine, and give her a call, too. Hopefully sleep will help. She really deserves better…
