Elliott C. Back: In Aere Aedificare

The ElliottBack.com Dev. Plan

Posted in How to Blog, Code by Elliott Back on June 22nd, 2005.

It’s been a long time since the site engine has changed, but I have great plans for a new system. I am going to do it in three parts:

  • Develop a new wordpress 1.5.x.x package on a test server somewhere. Move the old “movies” and other “elliott” tabs to the domain root, add more content there.
  • Develop or find a deployment tool that can push out my package to the various subdomains and keep everyone in sync.
  • Do a gradual manual deployment, run the upgrade scripts, and then re-deploy with the automatic tool

I think this will be a great strategy–then I can do serious work on the website without having to worry about all my myriad installations, because everything will basically be the same.
