Speed bumps of the future

According to the Scotsman online, the 60-year-old Welsh man Gywn Harvey has invented speed bumps that react in accordance with the driving. Driving slow? No problem, they won’t be there. But, if you’re going fast, prepare for a jolt:

Sensors to instruct the hump to raise can be set to react to different speeds, operate at different times and can even be set to ignore speeding emergency vehicles.

The invention could mean the end to driving down a clear road late at night and being forced to break for a series of speed humps. Gywn Harvey, from Wales, said he came up with the idea ten years ago when he accidentally hit a speed hump too fast.

Dynamic speed bumps (DSP´s) are illigel, since they doesn´t comply with the EU Machinery Directive. Have you seen a DSP with the mandatory CE-marking? No, I didn´t believe so either. Have you seen a DSP without the CE-marking? Then you have seen an illegal machine. Contact the nearest Police office to file a claim.

Sounds like a great idea to me! There is no excuse for going over the speed limit, especially in residential areas. If these DSPs aren't legal, they should be! Let those of us who actually follow the laws UNITE! ;-) Slow those scofflaws down!
