Yahoo Adult Ads?

Posted in Search, Spam, SEO by Elliott Back on October 12th, 2005.

I thought that the Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN) didn’t allow adult ads? Then why am I getting this advertisement on my main page:

Adult Advertisement

While the site in question is acceptable content, I would think that the phrase “Meet Fat Sex Girl” would trigger some bayesian or LSI acceptability filters in the yahoo system and be rejected. This is a big deal for content-publishers. If yahoo demands that we keep their ads off of adult-themed pages, we demand that yahoo run work-safe ads. And, if they are not holding up their end of the bargain, a site’s reputation could be damaged by the accidentally introduced adult content.

I also got an “porn” ad on my Google AdSense here: www.yugatech.com/blog/?p=316

I wonder how they filter ads that go thru their AdWord system

Do you think the advertisers paid these big companies to look the other way?

I don’t get people paying high prices for porn ads when they can just pay $2/block on www.pixelrotica.com

    Its official.
I spoke to someone at Yahoo yesterday on the phone and they will not show adult content ads on www.yahoo.co.uk anymore, they say they have always had this rule in place apparently, probably never noticed in over 10 years then!
Its obvious they have some new fuddy duddy bosses in place now who have clamped down with the new panama system.
No wonder there profits are down by 11%

    Anyone else affected by this?

    Bek.
