Ethical Journalism
I’ve been extremely annoyed by the Cornell Daily Sun of late. Over at the Cornell Blog, I keep posting about articles that are one giant pathetic fallacy or totally and utterly fake. Why is the Cornell Daily Sun writing crap? What has happened to good journalism? This isn’t a blog guys, where you can write anything you want, where you have the pleasure of being light and witty. You are a newspaper.

I would have thought the university (at least the journalism department) would watchdog to some degree. The picture is a riot - not even close.

You are exactly right, and I’ve been thinking the same thing. The Cornell Daily Sun is one big editorial column. It’s almost all opinion, and not good opinions at that. I can’t stand it, and I usually just read the comics and ignore the rest. The only good articles are the ones submitted by non Sun-staff… such as the student who wrote about being attacked for being middle eastern, and not getting helped by police, and the student who wrote about his experience in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Much better journalism than what the Sun-staff churns out.
