Elliott C. Back: In Aere Aedificare

The WoW 1.11.0 patch introduced a new global looking for group (LFG) channel. Now, anyone on the same side of the battle (Alliance / Horde) will be able to talk to anyone else on the game server. Before, people could only chat with people in the same sub-region, which made the LFG channel a great place to actually find a group. Now, it’s being infected with spam. I’d like to show you some random examples (screenshots) of the new LFG channel:

This is exactly what a LFG channel should be for–finding a group for your quest. However, it’s not always like that:

Often, the LFG channel has turned into a banning/reporting frenzy as people fill it with various kinds of spam and profanity.

It’s like there’s now a global bunch of 13 year old AOL users:

All considered, I strongly recommend either including intelligent police bots on the global channel(s), or removing them and going back to the old system.

   hahaha, i deal with this all the time. im a heave World of Warcraft player and it is just kinda funny to sit and read when you have no questing or grinding, but yes when race, religion or *** is involved it needs to be stopped.

Okay, since you’re a tool I’ll restrain from explaining furhter how the name LookingForGroup doesn’t exactly go hand in hand with having people looking for a group leaving the channel, whilst morons that spam the **** to pieces get to stay. There is absolutely NOTHING, nothing good about the subjects players discuss in LFG. They always end up the same way, and frankly nobody ever gets banned.

   I dont know about you, but I find the global LFG channel hilarious and much better entertainment than the boring as **** game that I’m playing while reading it. This is especially true during those lonely nights of farming gold for overpriced, needed items.

   I have no problem with the immature people on LFG if they want to waste their time talking about how Chuck Norris can destroy the world with one roundhouse kick so what? I think all these super anal retentive people that are always using their playing experience to worry about the chat of others need to lighten up. Sure there should be no racist jokes, or foul language, but there will always be people of a different religion on there so if someone makes an off color remark about your particular religion, don’t start hitting them with the bible, Qur’an, Book of Mormon, or whatever book you use. I guess what I am saying is LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!!!!

   What is it peeps…I think that you should all send me 5$ each so that I can afford a nice computer to play WoW on and thus be able to comment on these situations and what not.
