The Goon Story of Job

Now, please don’t kill me for posting this.

I’ve watched people I know read the book of Job as some kind of literal truth, but there are problems with internal consistency. Perhaps because the book, like most of the Bible, is a continuously evolving myth–renowned Assyriologist and Sumerologist Samuel Noah Kramer found a Sumerian text that evinces a remarkable parallel–it can’t possibly make sense in any other context but as an oral story, or series of impressions.

This video does an excellent job of pointing out the ridiculous and symbolically repetitive dialog between God and Satan, the problems with the plot, and the injustice present in all that happens to Job.

    all i have to say is that i see it as truth... i guess if u gave anyone a hack at anything with as much sarcasm as that fellow above. well, I guess it's sort of sad from my perspective. I guess unless you read the whole book of Job you won't really understand it. I invite you to read it. And to have a more open mind than allowing 1 person to help point you in the "that's a myth" perspective. And honestly when u look at something you look at the whole of it. There is a ridiculous amount of proof of the bible's origins clearly anchored in truth and factual history. Just as you would any other work, if the majority of evidence amounts to pointing to the bible as truth, then you must accept it as such. Look carefully at the book of Job yourself and see if the video itself is even accurate in the way things were said. There's a lot of sarcasm that is simply erroneous.

    I read Job a few years ago, and it's remained my favourite of all the books from then on. I've allways tried to convey the madness written in it to my friends, and my story came out pretty much exactly the same as this cartoon.. only not quite as funny, and without the cool pictures.

    Now I'm a big boy, I've stopped reading comics for fun, and I now read the Bible, it's hilarious!
