New Year’s 2007 Resolutions

Posted in Family, Life, Holiday, Wendy by Elliott Back on January 3rd, 2007.

Every year there are things to be done, but this year I have a few extremely concrete resolutions. These aren’t the kind of things that will make my body strong, or cure me of some minor addiction. Nor are they resolutions to try adventure for its own sake, or to experience new thrills. Rather, these resolutions are the sort that will ensure a life of happiness and a gloriously bright future.

Resolution #3: To pay at least $2000 a month towards my student loans, thus eliminating them in less than a year.

Resolution #2: To increase my skills at the guitar, learn and create new music.

Resolution #1: To give Wendy everything I can, and then a little more.

My dear, let me tell you something. Even if you have nothing left but your heart and your mind, I will be by your side till the very end. I want to be with you, supporting you, giving you all my love, and making our brightest future with our own efforts!!

What’s the interest rate on your loans? If it’s less than 5%, save the money! Banks are 5%+ and CDs are 6-7% (and those are just the risk-free investments). If you’re talking about ~$20,000, the interest gains are worth it. I paid off my Cornell loans in less than a year and kind of regret it. Pay the minimum, and collect. (Unless we’re talking about high interest rate private loans, in which case, good on you for paying them back!)

WOW - a fellow Cornellian! When did you graduate (98 here). $20,000 in loans isn’t that bad … and as Ben says, if your rates are low (mine are 2%), just take the long road.

Oops, that didn’t work … seriously, not trying to spam you (there’s no preview button to know which html tags you accept):
