I’m also putting writing a distributed spam blacklist system for Wordpress on my to do list. We need some kind of collaborative voting system for blacklist keywords, where the top-rated keywords are automatically added to the blacklist. You’d be able to either opt to blacklist (destroy) any incoming comments that match, or simply add them to the moderation queue.

Why do you have pro, to, nix on there twice? (Writing it so strangely, otherwise this comment will get filtered immediately ;) )

A distributed wordpress blacklist plugin would be VERY handy. Like hazel said, if you ever make anything, let me know.

Akismet is a plugin for wordpress that seems to do roughly what a voting system would do.

Akismet is very useful and with the Auntie spam Greasemonkey script it’s relatively easy to scan for false positives. However, what I want to know is why doesn’t the Wordpress comment blacklist kick in *before* Akismet so that obvious blacklisted spam is deleted before it even makes it to the filtering stage?

Thats a great list, I’ll start using it too.
I’ve been using IP’s in my Comment Blacklist because I find most of my spammers return over & over.
I’m looking now for a IP list other WordPress users have built up.

with random “story-like” wordings placed on comments they were posting
