Cancelling Netflix
I did it. I finally cancelled Netflix. This will save me $16 a month, which is only two hours of work at my underpaid TA job, but I figure there’s no point in paying good money for a service you don’t have time to use, at all.
Netflix lets you rent three DVDs at a time (at this pricepoint), watch them, mail them back, and get more. The turnaround time is 2 days here, so I could watch 7/2 * 3 ~ 10 DVDs a week. If each DVD is 135 minutes long, then that is 22.5 hours of DVDs.
I have class today from 9 AM to 9 PM. Where will I find a while day’s worth of time to watch DVDs?
Not to say that Netflix isn’t very good at what it does. It’s just that I, and probably many of its other customers, don’t really need it.
