Dreamhost may be guilty of “overselling” but you, my friend, are guilty of “underbuying”. Dreamhost had every right to cut you off, if for nothing else than the immense size of your ego. Thanks to you, they have probably added an “ego limit” section to their TOS. Get a dedicated server and leave the shared hosting to the “little people”, k?

Dreamhost are pretty good for us although you do see a bit of downtime on various services. I guess it’s just vital to keep backups of your stuff (at the end of the day the only person you can rely on is you).

I think this is especially true with large hosts like Dreamhost where emphasis is on ‘buy bulk’ rather than ‘buy service’.

For DreamHost or bluehost I found some good promo codes on a website called OneMoreGadget just type OMG2009 at the check out and you can get a ridiculous deal. I thought I would try it as I had nothing to lose because of the price being so cheap.

So far the service has been good, they’ve been helpful. Way better customer service than I had expected and they made it easy to transfer my hosting which I was worried about. Since signing up they have actually called me twice in reply to questions I asked them.
