If you check out the jobs page at Facebook, you’ll see that they’re looking for software guys:
Software Engineers:
- BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience with Unix/Linux environments, C++, Java, distributed systems, machine learning, information retrieval, TCP/IP and network programming and/or developing large software systems a plus
- Knowledge of PHP, Perl, or other scripting languages a plus
