Google Trends Predicts Ron Paul

Posted in Google, Government, Quantitative, Science by Elliott Back on December 5th, 2007.

According to a GigaOm article Google Trends Predicts Hillary as Dem Nominee, “current Google trend lines show Clinton beating Obama and Edwards.” Unfortunately they neglect to compare any possible Republican nominees, or any other candidates for nomination, such as our infamous Ron Paul, who easily pwns Hillary’s search volume by orders of magnitude:

Can Ron Paul steal the Republican nomination? According to his Google trends graph, he can! Maybe democracy is coming…

Please Sir, It is a Republic, not a Democracy. Please Google the difference.

    Best Regards

I have noticed that all the live gauges of interest, such as straw polls (aside from the one Romney cheated on) and what google is showing point completely towards Ron Paul. When I drive to work I pass 20 Ron Paul bumper stickers on cars, a few signs, a sticker covered newspaper stand and one Clinton sticker. It must mean that the main news such as FOX, ABC etc are lying their pants off about their poll numbers.
    RON PAUL REVOLUTION!!!!

  3. Jim ODonnell says:

Two notes to the above comments:

[1] You betcha Tom. The word “Democracy” is never mentioned even once in either the Declaration or Constitution. The founders hated the concept of democracy, and even our military circa 1910 once described it in military traning manuals as a “barbarous relic” which did not recognize the rights of the minority. If this is not enough, then see what happened to Socrates in the “pure Democracy of ancient Greece.”

[2] If your “beard-and-butter” came from war and defence spending like General Electric [53% of revenue is from the military], what would you do. Then all the sutff on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC which are owned by GE becomes a lot easier to understand. Thanks, Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman, etc. you bumb idiots.

It’s worth mentioning that it’s [supposed to be] a Democratic Republic. Yep, we elect people (democratically) to rule for us. Perhaps Ron Paul will put a little more weight on the Democratic than the Republic.

  5. Matt says:

No Elliot, it’s a Constitutional Republic. And you can bet your money (or gold!) that Ron Paul will put all his weight on the Constitution.

  6. Elliott Back says:

Ah, it’s all of these things (representative democracy, constitutional republic). I shouldn’t use political terminology because I am *bound* to get it wrong.

  7. Jim ODonnell says:

Not correct Elliott as Matt says we are a Consitutional Republic.

Non-Essentials are always omitted, otherwise you could call us a “Wintertime-Voting Machine-Media Driven-Two Party-Once Free-Democratic” Republic. I omitted Consititutional because no one except Ron Paul has ever read it, and I include the Supreme Court.

    Jim

  8. Greg says:

Just to make sure here, because the Constitution of our “Constitutional Republic” mandates that legislative officials and the executive officer be democratically republic, aren’t we vicariously a democratic republic? Don’t worry, I realized that it doesn’t make a communists to be a democratic republic.

  9. Swami Barmi says:

Just a nitpicky point regarding terminology:

“Can Ron Paul steal the Republican nomination?”

If anyone will have won an election fair and square in this country it would be Ron Paul. Let’s leave the concept of “stealing” an election to those who can’t win honestly.

  10. [...] According to Elliot C. Black (h/t LewRockwell.com), Google Trend Lines predict Ron Paul will beat Hillary, from his article: According to a GigaOm article Google Trends Predicts Hillary as Dem Nominee, “current Google trend lines show Clinton beating Obama and Edwards.” Unfortunately they neglect to compare any possible Republican nominees, or any other candidates for nomination, such as our infamous Ron Paul, who easily pwns Hillary’s search volume by orders of magnitude: [...]

  11. Actually they aren’t lying about their poll numbers they just rig the polls. See http://bhday.wordpress.com/2007/12/05/how-phone-polls-really-work/

  12. Internet is Overrated says:

Yeah, if you check Howard Dean’s internet buzz numbers from 4 years ago you will find he dwarfed John Kerry, as did Dennis Kucinich, neither of them went anywhere, and neither will Ron Paul.

It is really simple. An old axium from Sam Adams about a small dedicated group of like minded individuals looks impressive online, unfortunately, these things take a generation or so to bear real fruit, and no candidate campaign lasts that long.

One of the reasons that Dean is Chairman of the Democrats is that his supporters understand it takes a generation or so to have real fruit born from any so-called revolution. We are getting our ducks in a row to have our fruit ready for plucking in the coming years, maybe even in the 2008 election with big pickups in the House and Senate, but this is a long term plan.

The Paul people need to get ready for a big disappointment.

  13. David says:

Hey, Internet is Overrated, you wouldn’t blame us for trying, now would you? So the real question becomes: Won’t we blame ourselves if we don’t?

  14. Hillary is the devil, but Ron Paul? He’s just a joke?

  15. bonanzaman says:

Democracy is communism by stealth whereas in your face Zionist communism usually requires a violent revolution. Anyone who notices will realize that the US began the turn to democracy from Republicanism during Lincolns time. The change had been tried unsuccessfully before with 2 central banks which were both rejected by the people.

  16. modernization says:

mike gravel, everyone. thats all i gotta say.

  17. Julio Tostados says:

In 2004, pollsters told us that was the last presidential election where phone polls would be accurate because of the surging of cell phones.

Now there are more cell phones than land lines and the majority of people under 30 has cut the cord.

Ron Paul’s polling numbers reflect less than half of his actual support. It won’t be easy, but I think he’ll win it all.

  18. Ron Paul rEVOLution is more than just about electing a President.

It has started a MOVEMENT that is getting Americans interested in politics and making a difference.

Many supporters of this MOVEMENT are already planning to run for political office not just in Federal Government but also in local and state.

We will also be contacting our Representatives and Senators and letting them know that when Dr. Paul is elected they will want to work with him and NOT against him if they wish to keep their jobs.

We The People are running for President and Dr. Paul is just our Representative that we WILL put into the White House to Represent ALL of us.

NO more overspending will be allowed any more. Government has wasted Billions of Dollars if not Trillions in the last 30 years or more by giving out subsidies to large corporations and many more areas as well.

We are one of the few of the Hundreds of Thousands if not Millions of Americans that have been AWAKENED by Dr. Paul’s message and will NO LONGER sit by the sidelines and let Our Country be destroyed by the Neo-Cons that wish to take full control of our lives.

What many do NOT understand is that Network Marketers, that make their living by building groups of people under them, are involved in Dr. Paul’s campaign. We know this because we happen to be one of those Network Marketers that can get our message out to a Million people in a week.

The so-called “Front Runners” do NOT stand a chance, unless they cheat, to win the Republican Presidential Candidacy. Dr. Paul is also the ONLY Republican candidate that will be able to beat Clinton.

The MSM knows this and that is why they marginalize Dr. Paul every chance they get. It is Clinton’s turn to be President. Yes, ALL but Dr. Paul, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel belong to the same party of Neo-Cons no matter what party they say they are with.

We are NOT politically interested and quite frankly politics disgust us and always have. We are a REALIST and see things how they really are and have finally decided to help change things for the BEST for America and every legal American as well.

Until we heard that Dr. Paul was running for President we have never even registered let alone voted. We could NEVER belittle ourself by voting for the “Lessor of 2 Evils” or as a friend of ours says the “Evil of 2 Lessors”.

So if you do not think Dr. Paul does not have a chance, think again. In our profession we have cds on it that have Millions of names of other Network Marketers on it.

ONLY A Doctor WILL HEAL Our Country,
    Freedom4America Group

  19. Ben says:

Jim ODonnell, you Sir are on the right track! I wish more Americans saw the “fact” that there has yet to be a single President (for decades) that has even upheld the “Constitution of the United States” let alone our “Bill of Rights”…. I sure hope Ron Paul is elected…

I also hope Ron Paul abolishes Overseas Employment and Temp Contracting; Independent Contracting is Constitutionally Legal, However, Temp Contracting is just the same as “Slavery”.

  20. veritas lux est says:

Ron Paul has one the vast majority of Straw polls and is taking states. He is on the Rise!

But! We can’t focus on the man while forgetting his message. This is a Revolution! When Nathan Hale was hanged, the revolution didn’t stop. Why? Because this is the PEOPLE’S revolution! It is a movement to change america. Ron Paul Knows this. He said himself “There is a revolution going on and I’m just grateful to be a part of it. He knows our nation is in so much debt, it will take more than one generation to get rid of it. He probably has considered he’ll get opposition from every federal idiocracy that ever existed. But he will continue on because Freedom is popular and the people know it’s time to change. We are a Revolution that will sweep the whole country, change the continent, and ultimately affect the world for the Better. Ron Paul is the Hope for America, not because of the man he is, but because of the message he brings and the Liberty He would die for.

    Be a Part of it!
