Jean Pierre and Michel Auvigue 2003 Pouilly Fuisse

Posted in Food by Elliott Back on February 4th, 2006.

I had the most fantastic French white wine the other day, the 2003 Pouilly Fuisse from a small winemaker in France. Cynthia Hurley describes the making process, “Jean-Pierre makes a Pouilly Fuisse from a small portion of his vineyards from just vieilles vignes that are 75- years-old. He ages this wine in oak.” Other praise for the two winemakers comes from Robert Parker, who says, “[t]heir wines are among the top half-dozen wines produced in the region.”

I’m not particular wine expert, and I can’t distinguish one wine from another in technical terms, but without a doubt, this is the best wine I’ve had in my young drinking career yet. It tasted ten times purer and richer than others, and for $17.99–quite a steal.
