Medallion Guitars

Posted in Music by Elliott Back on May 14th, 2005.

Probably the stub I created on Wikipedia for Medallion Guitars will be deleted because the company is extinct and not appreciably notable. Therefore, I’ll reproduce the content here. If you’ve owned a medallion guitar, or seen it mentioned in print, please leave a comment so I can collect more information:

Medallion Guitars was a guitar manufacturing company that produced Les Paul knockoffs made from a plywood body construction, a rosewood neck painted to look like ebony or another fine wood, and cheap, no-brand electronics. Their self-named “Medallion” model featured 22 frets, a sunburst paint job, and Grover machine heads. Information about the company can no longer be located on the internet, but it’s possible that older guitar-related text publications contain advertisements and reviews.

  1. This my final pre-release test comment of WP-Hashcash, on an old blog. It worked fine in both FF and IE on the 1.5.0 blog, so I’m going to test it here on the 1.2.105 blog. Validation is fine… commenting is …

  2. FINE and DANDY!

    Hey,
I was doing some research on Medallion guitars and came across your site. I just saw a nice Medallion 12 string acoustic at a pawnshop last week. I’m thinking about talking the price down and picking it up. You ever play one of their acoustics? I was wondering how they sounded. I didn’t have much time so I couldn’t check it out before.

How much is it? I probably wouldn’t want to pay more than $100 for this kind of guitar, unless it has really redeeming qualities like … fine woods, a good finish, etc. Unfortunately, I have never played an accoustic–but if you try it and like it… make a decision!

I have a Medallion Acoustic model # KW-250 and I have had it for 30 years. I love it and will never part from it. It in my mind is a one of a kind classic. It has detail I never see in even expensive guitars. Pearl inlayed around hole, every fret, around front & Back of outside edges. The back is a three piece Walnut design, seperated by Pearl inlays. It sound great to. I can’t find anything on the Internet on it except here. Thanks for posting this site.

i just got the 12 string acoustic . says on the label lp no.2024. this thing plays awesome. has a repair on the bridge but its still easier to play than most 6 strings. it is all real woods (no laminates) at least 30 yrs old.thisguitar is much better quality than most taylors and martins ive played under $5000.I WILL KEEEP THIS THING FOREVER. I assume the lp stands for limited production
or if made in canada like the gentleman said than maybe La Patrie. theyve been making guitars in that town for at least 30/40 years.

I have a Medallion acoustic 6 string. Excellent guitar with easy fret actions. More importantly, it has great tone and sound. Bought it used in 1974 in Cincinnati for $100. It’s in cherry condition.
