The use of gradients and shadows is good. How does "Today's Featured Blog" work-- do you update it manually? I wouldn't be able to keep up that kind of discipline. The first time I visited the new front page, it said "visits!" at the bottom, with no number before it. That seemed awkward-- might want to change that. I like the new design a lot. That way, not all of the sites have the same green lay out on the home page (it's kinda monotonous).
