Oh yes, let’s ignore it
Keep cool. This [censorship] is one problem that Chinese people have to solve themselves. (Danwei)
Of course. If we imperialistic Americans don’t shut up about rights violations in China, it would be impossible to make progress. WTF? When something bad is happening, it doesn’t get better if no one talks about it!

He’s right though. While we all agree things should change in a lot of countries including China, American intervention usually either ***** things up or creates new enemies. In most countries with less freedom than the Western world people do want more of that. They just don’t want Uncle Sam to be the one that brings it to them.
Maybe this is partially because American view on ‘freedom’ is full of hypocrisy? Anyone can be ‘free’ as long as they’re doing it the American way or they’ll be declared ‘enemies’.
I agree with both points of view. We (human beings) all too easily turn a blind eye to the bad stuff that happens in the world we’re living in. We often do this either with the firm belief in our heads that as a single human being, we are too insignificant to make any affect or that if we look the other direction it will eventually go away.
Unfortunately, intervention from any country can bee seen as replacing one goverment structure for another. “What is freedom if it’s forced on someone?”
The bitter sweet irony.
It’s not about intervention, this is an argument about poltical discussion and free speech. They’re saying that Americans have no rights to TALK about “Chinese” affairs….
