For the first time ever, I rank fourth on Google for the search term “elliott,” directly above Missy Elliott, my competitor for so many long years:
This is totally a huge ego search, but I must confess that I optimized the front page a little more heavily for that keyword than I did before, increasingly the density dramatically.
I’m doing some cool things for the new ElliottBack.com. One of them involves integrating a community tagging solution, to which I’ve added or modified the following features:
+ Automatic tagging
+ Related RSS search feeds now in regular HTML as well as AJAX
+ RSS search feed item descriptions
I need to add one more feature, that is, to let everyday users add tags at will, too. Once that’s done, this tagging solution will power intra-post linkage as well as draw in valuable content from offsite.
It’s been a long time since the site engine has changed, but I have great plans for a new system. I am going to do it in three parts:
- Develop a new wordpress 1.5.x.x package on a test server somewhere. Move the old “movies” and other “elliott” tabs to the domain root, add more content there.
- Develop or find a deployment tool that can push out my package to the various subdomains and keep everyone in sync.
- Do a gradual manual deployment, run the upgrade scripts, and then re-deploy with the automatic tool
I think this will be a great strategy–then I can do serious work on the website without having to worry about all my myriad installations, because everything will basically be the same.
