RED Ipod Nano for AIDS
Apple’s come up with another iPod gimmick, this time in the form of charity. For the first time ever, buying an iPod Red Nano will automatically decrease Apple’s profits by $10, donating the money to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. As that’s only 5% of the price, you really know their margins are not affected.

A very sarcastic think tanker type has suggested that Apple’s concerns are tastelessly mercenary:
Well, the 4 gig iPod Nano is selling for $199 USD with a WHOPPING 10 bucks going to fighting AIDS! Hooray! Next up is some white Converse with a red interior (oooh-la-la). There are Georgio Armani clothing and accessories, because you know, nothing says “I care about AIDS orphans in Africa” like wearing Armani.
I tend to agree with him.
