To Dajjal, It seems you invested a lot of time in studying the Quran. I congratulate you on that but it seems you have missed the point. You have quoted many suras and verses that specifically deal with war and things in that nature, and you accuse Islam of being violent. Well listen, and listen very carefuly. The sura you have quoted are suras that were dealing with what was happening at THAT MOMENT. First, besides reading the Quran and the hadiths, you have to also read the biography of Muhammed(pbuh). The Prophet left Mecca without causing trouble, actually he was persecuted. Realize that Mecca was a destination for pilgrams for Jews and Christians because the Kabba was built by Abraham(pbuh). He set up a nice peaceful life in Medina where he got along with the Jews and Christians, even to the point where they themselves were coming to him in matters of dispute. Another thing you haven’t mentioned is that when one reads the word disbelievers in the Quran, this does not refer to Christians, Jews or anyone who at some point was sent a Holy Book- on the contrary these people are refered to as People of the Book- we are told not to argue with them.
The second thing we have to discuss is jihad. The word jihad has been used by many to translate as ‘holy war’. Can someone please quote anything(!) that can prove to me that it means ‘holy war’. The word jihad in arabic means ’struggle’. The term most mentioned in Islam is jihada-al-nafs,-al-nafs meaning self or in a broader sense, soul. Stuggle against the desires of ourselves is the most important mission for muslims. So this term that has been thrown around, has nothing to do with ‘holy war’. The jihad that does deal with war, again it still does not translate as holy war, it is the struggle that the muslims of Medina had to face when the Meccans had waged war on them. The wars that seem so fascinating to you because you have put a whole a lot of effort into associating Islam with war, these wars had nothing to do with a ‘holy war’. The Prophet(pbuh) was pushed to the point of taking up arms in order to protect his city-Medina. The Meccans didn’t like the fact he had established a peaceful authority in Medina, so they served the first attack. Besides, THEY were torturing/killing/raping the muslims back in Mecca. Dajjal, why have you missed this aspect, is not worth mentioning? So, going back in history and looking at ALL cultures and societies, isn’t it human instinct to protect oneself when attacked?

Now, on the subject of Jesus(pbuh). I don’t think any of you understand what he means to us. The reason you guys get sensitive about our vision of Jesus(pbuh) is because we don’t regard him as dead, or that he died for the sins of mankind. In our minds, Jesus is very alive, it’s just that he has an appointed time to descent again. The reason Muhammed(pbuh) is regarded a the seal of prophets is because he was the last person to had a word from the All-Mighty. When Muhammed(pbuh) said; that Jesus(pbuh) would be ruling by his rule, I feel like you again missed the point. If you have read the Quran and studied it as you claim, you will also agree with me that the Quran on countless occasions says that Muhammed(pbuh) is only following the religion that was before him, that of Noah(pbuh), Moses(pbuh), Abraham(pbuh), and Jesus(pbuh). If you weren’t looking for hatred and things to make Islam look bad, you would have realized what Muhammed(pbuh) meant by that statement, meaning there wouldn’t be any variations in his rule and that of Jesus(pbuh).
Lastly, I see you have a problem with when non-muslims living in muslim countries have to pay the annual fee. As stated before, if you truly did study Islam you would know that it’s forced upon EVERY MUSLIM to pay zakat-almsgiving. So why would the non-muslims get to benefit from the muslims? While the muslims have to pay the money, the non-muslims don’t? This fee is set in place to avoid being unfair. Tell me a verse that states that non-muslims have to be forced into Islam, or otherwise they have to pay money?. The paying of that money is regardless whether you’re a muslim or a non-muslim living in a muslim country. As a muslim here in the States, do I not pay my taxes? Is not forced upon me or wouldn’t I be otherwise going to jail?
You can say all you want to about Islam, your words can’t destroy it. All you can do is lead others that are not educated in the religion of Islam astray.
Was it not Islam that gave me as a woman rights to inheritance-mind you, that was unheard of in Europe back then. Was it not Islam that gave me rights to have property and it still would remain mine even after I got married? Do I have to tell you what was going in Europe back then? Well, I think I will; men were getting married to girls that had property so that they could incorperate it into theirs after marriage. And if the marriage failed was she allowed to get property back? No buddy, it was her ex-husbands now.
So Dajjal, you wrote a nice little piece, throwing around some names, but still, I would’ve wished you had actually approached Islam without hatred. And the next time, I don’t want to see the works of theologians. Give me examples out the Quran and hadiths, and USE THEM IN THEIR CONTXT. Because those two are the most important to most muslims, as theologians usually mix their own feelings/thoughts into their work. Anything outside of the Quran and the hadiths are only used when a subject is not found the first two.

I can sit here and write a whole book on how Christianity has been [ab]used over the centuries, used to conquer, kill, and wipe out enitre nations, but do you hear me say anything, NO. That’s because I don’t go around saying that ALL christians or the whole religion of Chritianity is a “religion of hatred”-as you so eloquently said about mine, but I won’t and can’t. So please respect others.

What is the point of having religions that require the others’ to be the enemy? Tension.

That tension felt in individuals (the better the believer, the better the tension) releases emotional energy. Emotional energy is food “for the Moon”, i.e. someone else.

Humans are not at the top of the food chain on this planet. Religion was introduced to increase the food supply.
