I was just asking that are there any advantages of using the RPC ping list in wordpress blog. I rarely find advantage of using it. Please throw your points on this.

  4. The problem with pings is that these sites appear and disappear fairly quickly… although it is worth the time.

Several SEO places have said that pinging is no longer useful and that can be penalized by google by until now I have seen it’s not the case.

I don’t know why it was added in the first place. The service is only available to users who have signed up in advance. Other users are blocked. In order to sign up, the blog must be written in Danish and meet certain other criteria. So I don’t think it is appropriate to include in this list.

    C’mon Elliot,

I’m not that stupid. According to pingomatic.com/blog/2004/12/10/new-front-page/ they edited their homepage and I’m not convinced that the services you just listed are their ONLY ones.

Thus I ask, is this list comprehensive? or is ping-o-matic showing just the larger, well-known feeds on their homepage to reduce “clutter”?

  256. As it says on their frontpage, Pingomatic pings:

    Weblogs.com
    Blo.gs
    Technorati
    Feed Burner
    Syndic8
    NewsGator
    Feedster
    My Yahoo!

    BlogRolling
    BlogStreet
    Moreover
    Weblogalot
    Audio.Weblogs

    Very useful Ping lists.

  259. Hey, Elliott, thanks for being gentle — as a reward, I did a grand mea culpa!

  260. How do you like that, Mr. Groth? I just added a custom field to my post and modified the autolinker to not link if that field is present with that particular value, so now you can copy and paste these RPC endpoints to your heart’s content! :-p

  261. Travis Groth says:

Uh, that list is pretty useless in this form, isn’t it?

Yes, the base text is right, but many of those services’ links are not just their top domain name like rpc.technocrati.com. Unless i’m terribly misunderstanding how WP’s auto-ping feature reads RPC server lists, we have to copy/paste each of those urls or dig through the HTML of this page and do some regexp magic to extract the URLs from the link text. Is there a list of just the URLs outside of the anchor tag masking, a trick to import these links, or is this list just pointless?

    List of RPC ping services
Useful — A list of RPC ping services.

  263. List of Ping Services
Do you know that ping services can help you to increase visitors? I have compile a list of free open ping services.

  264. im finding a few more, i’ll post em once i get the list made

great list, i’ll use em all if i can!

    Thanks dude :-)

    Ping Servers etc.
There is a great list of ping servers you should add to your setup listed at Ensight and en even more comprehensive list at Ellittoback. However, they missed the new Moreover Ping Server. Moreover supplies MSN Newsbot, so it is…

  268. Elliott Back says:

The thingamablog ping has been moved to a seperate category which should clearly differentiate it from the list of other ping services.

  269. Bob says:

Please remove thingamablog.sourceforge.net/ping.php from this list. This service is for Thingamablog users only. Non-thingamablog users are automatically banned, so pinging it is futile.

    Thanks

  270. Ajay says:

How do I add this to my WordPress list?
    Currently it shows

    rpc.pingomatic.com/

    Please email me your response?

    Ping-O-Matic
After reading an update on Ping-O-Matic, I decided it was time to give it a try. This service seems to be quite extensive and saves me from having to maintain a list of active RPC ping URLs. The tool pings…

  272. Elliott Back says:

This brings the list to a grande total of 43 XML-RPC ping URLs. Phew…that’s quite a lot. And, not all of them work. Do you know if there’s a way to fork a new process in PHP… I’d love to send these in the background!

  273. Zeke says:

That’s about ten more than I had previously. Thanks! ;-)
