New Site: MSN Icons!
![]()
I’d like to welcome a new site I’ve playing with to the Elliott Back Network. It’s called MSN Icons and is a Gallery 2 installation devoted to hosting MSN icons, animated emoticons, display pictures, etc. I toyed with the idea of having RSS feeds for gallery items, and decided against, so the whole thing is simply one large dynamic site.
Gallery differs from Wordpress in that its themes use Smarty, not HTML and PHP code, which was my first obstacle to overcome. After I figured it out, it wasn’t as hard as I thought to get the Gallery 2 themes to do what I wanted to do. If you visit the site right now you’ll see some icons in folders, which isn’t quite the entire picture of what I ultimately want. Here’s what’s left on my to-do list:
- Entice users to register and add their own folders and icons
- Categorize emoticons from display pictures
- Categorize and label all site content
- Get indexed in Google
I don’t usually release experimental URLs to the public, but this is a harmless exception!
