Elliott C. Back: Internet & Technology

Yahoo sucks. Banned me. What to do?

Posted in My Blog,Optimization,Search,Yahoo by Elliott Back on May 17th, 2007.

It wasn’t my intention, when I wrote about how Google wouldn’t index one of my sites to make it to the #1 keyword for “Google Sucks” but it happened anyway. That’s a story for another day–right now my gripe is with infamous search engine Yahoo, which doesn’t index any of my sites at all!

Try searching for name, Elliott Back on Yahoo and you get absolutely nothing:

I tried adding my feed to Yahoo Site Explorer but it’s been 50 minutes and it hasn’t been indexed yet. I’m going to contact Webmaster Support and see what comes. My suspicion is that this is a side-effect from the rapid adoption by others of WP Autoblog, which links back to me, one of the reasons I stopped distributing it.

Update: I submitted my feed at 05/17/2007 14:18:01 and it was processed on 05/17/2007 14:26:18. Apparently it took a long time to get reported as processed, but the processing itself happened within 10 minutes.

Update 2: Well so far nothing. If any Yahoo people stop by, drop me a note or give me a call and we can get this sorted out.

Update 3: I emailed a friendly Yahoo employee who might be able to help, and also signed up for their paid search inclusion, “search submit basic,” which hopefully can nudge the site back into the index. Although, I don’t feel right paying for being indexed, it feels too black hat.

Update 4: I got the following email back from Yahoo:

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Search.

It has been determined that your site may not comply with Yahoo!’s Content Quality Guidelines located at: help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/deletions/deletions-05.html

Below are some answers to common questions regarding this issue:

Q: What are some of the common reasons that a site may violate Yahoo!’s Content Policy Guidelines?

A: Yahoo!’s Content Quality Guidelines (link above) outline what we are and are not looking for in pages that we index. Listed below are some of the more common reasons that a site may violate these guidelines:

– Cloaking (showing crawlers deceptive content about a site)
– Massive domain interlinking- Use of affiliate programs without the addition of substantial unique content
– Use of reciprocal link programs (aka “link farms”)
– Hidden text
– Excessive keyword repetition

Q: If my site has a judgment against it, can I use the SiteMatch inclusion program?

A: All pages submitted to SiteMatch are editorially reviewed. If a site has a judgment against it, it is likely to be rejected by the SiteMatch program.

Q: If my site has a judgment against it, can I use the Yahoo! Express directory inclusion program?

A: Yes, the Yahoo! Directory and Yahoo! Search Index are different systems. Inclusion or exclusion from one does not affect the other.

Q: How can I have my site re-reviewed?

A: Please review our content quality guidelines to make sure that your site meets all of them. When you feel the site is ready, please complete the form located at: add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/ysearch/cgi_rereview requesting a re-review of your site. You may wish to include an explanation of unique features on your site, or details of changes to your site’s content that may assist our editors in their evaluation.

Please allow several weeks for the review process, YST indexing, and a complete refresh of the database before checking search.yahoo.com to see if your site is listed in the Yahoo!Search Index. We do not offer specifics detailing how an individual site is not in compliance with our guidelines, but we will review your site individually. You will not be
receiving further notification regarding your request for a second review, and we are not able to offer the option of another review.

Thank you for taking the time to make the Yahoo! Search Index better.
Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

Uh, this email contains no information that could help me understand why I’m banned from Yahoo, or how to correct that ban. Thanks for the … wasted bits in cyberspace!

I’m sick of Yahoo!. I no longer use Yahoo! Answers because you can get banned for simply not having the same political opinion. The community is a joke. The service sucks. And I for one am SICK of these Lefties sites censoring someone who disagrees with them. Yahoo! News sucks too. At one point, they used to be good, but now it’s nothing but tabloid ****. Yahoo! News should be called the Yahoo *** Network, because it’s ******* stupid & ***! I am sick of liberal websites censoring anyone who disagree with them. FU Yahoo!

  2. AngryBlackPerson says:

I haven’t asked a single question in about 4 years on that answers thing. The one time I asked something about my DOG KEPT PEEING ON MY DRESSER, I get banned. Like….What..The..Heck. I was about to tear my hair out and throw my grandma at someone. There’s SEXUALLY ACTIVE 8TH GRADERS ON THAT SITE AND I DON’T SEE THEM GETTING BANNED! Yahoo is just so ******. They don’t even wanna listen to my email complaints, they keep saying “we’ll look into it”. OH YEAH? WHEN? ACTUALLY NO NO. FORGET YAHOO. YOU PIECE OF ****.

  3. Haze says:

  4. Barvas11 says:

    Here is my story with buggy Yahoo browser;
It has been more than 5 month and I cannot get indexed by Bing or Yahoo. Yahoo search is owned by microsoft now by the way! I also added my website to Bing and it is rubbish as well. I have contacted webmasters and guess what? They did f*** all.
These search engines should be banned as they just suck and are full of bugs.

  5. asad says:

  6. SellYahooNOW says:

Yahoo will be history soon as it’s stock crumbles under the weight of Google’s superior abilities and underlying technologies. SELL any YAHOO stock! Warn your friends. It’s crashing as I type!

    • bas says:

I agree! After the debacle with Alipay, who would trust their managements abilities or character. Warren Buffett insists that management is the key piece in a company if one is to invest in it. Obviously, YAHOO is run by a bunch of yahoos!

I also hear (insider info) that they are bleeding personnel. Some key people are jumping the ship and when the rats leave, we know that the ship is sinking!

Add the fact that it is falling behind technologically, the FUNDAMENTALS seem to be missing for it to be a good long term investment.

NOT A BUY or even Hold situation IMHO!!!!

    • SellYahooNow says:

Over at SeekingAlpha, Mark Kreiger has said the Yahoo’s price implosion is making Yahoo a target fopr takeover. My bet is Google to eliminate the competition and expand market share. This would happen eventually but why wait-just take it out now! Why – BECAUSE YAHOO SUCKS!

Just as an aside. Stock price hit close at the 52 week LOW today! Rats are leaving. The Captain (CEO BARTZ) is asleep at the wheel. The scow YHOO is being driven onto the techno-rocks by the strong winds of Google and Facebook! It’s pretty easy to see where this is eventually going! DOWN!

  7. e says:

I can’t get into the forum it keeps telling me my cookies are not right, yet it was working allrighy before, can someone tell me if they think i have been banned?

    • Chris says:

  8. Chris says:

I agree just opened a g mail account today!yahoo banned me because someone kept reporting my posts because i have different political views!!!!F@#K yahoo!!!!!!!!

    • JC says:

Same here….and a world wide F@*K Yahoo as well

    • Ban says:

I was kicked off as well for having “too conservative” views about fiscal responsibility. So I opened my gmail account and I can’t believe how much faster it is. WHY IS YAHOO SUCH A RESOURCE HOG! It’s almost like a virus.

GMAIL rocks. Have you seen YAHOO’s stock price. Recommended as a STRONG SELL!

  9. Geo says:

I have to say that YAHOO SUCKS, there a bunch of fukn idiots….
I was on answers today and being the person I am answered a question….after answering the question YAHOO’s fukn site prompted me saying “good job your on a roll” here are other questions to answer….
being the good natured person I am I answered 1 out of the 5 THEY SUGGESTED to answer, so I did, and again, the same pop up was there, “YOUR ON A ROLL”……so I answered 3 more questions and a pop occured…..your “ACCOUNT is SUSPENDED”….15 minutes later, my fukn ip address is banned…..YAHOO CAN *** OFF…..I hope there fukn answer site goes to **** and they burn up and dis a fukn pear……*** OFF YAHOO…..bunch of *******….punk *** mutha fukers…..

  10. prince says:

same with me, don’t ever think to resubmit your url twice.

  11. Russ says:

DOWN WITH YAHOO!!! let’s unite and doom yahoo

    • SellYahooNOW says:

Speaking of DOWN with Yahoo, anyone notice the stock price today. Dropped to $13.11 and has been dropping like a stone over the last 3 months. I’d say it’s a STRONG SELL rating and is destined to be GOOGLIZED!

I switched to GMAIL and it’s way better. It’s so much faster and easy to use. No wonder GOOG is at $605 dollars and predicted to be going to $1500!!!

      Bye-bye Yahoooooo!

  12. Chairman Meow says:

Yahoo does suck. They are constantly posting irrelevant **** articles about nothing and making up statistical numbers off the tops of their pointed little heads to sway opinion when trying to make a political point. Then they have these so called Comment areas where you can only post if you agree with them or want to say something negative about the political right, The Tea Party or Conservatives in general, censoring out everything else.
Who wants to read their garbage or post on their site only to have it erased later or re-written with YOUR name on it? Yep, Yahoo Sucks. I hope everyone soon realizes how much and goes elsewhere.

    • JOHN says:

    • cmndx says:

uh, i’m totally on the left and yahoo bans any well thought out comments directed at the right that i make, regularly. Here’s some Political Science 101: The media, making its revenue from selling soap and insurance, is conservative by nature; i.e pro-business, pro status-quo, pro-conservatism. Its so-called ‘liberalism’ is for show and is only swallowed by those who are clueless enough to believe big-business and Tea Party persecution fantasies.

      • Concerned says:

Yahoo is definitely biased antichrist and anti-conservative. I tried posting on a comment related to why premarital *** is spiritually detrimental and they will not allow my comment to stay up. But people who support homosex and even bestiality have had comments on the same thread for years. And that is only one example I know of over the last 4 years. The bible clearly teaches that the end of the world is coming and also in revelations 12:9 that satan is deceiving the whole world.Satan can not work alone he has humans doing his work for money and power in this world. From satanist, lucifereans, homosexuals and freemasons america and the entire internet is controlled by sinners who have demons at work inside.Dont believe in demons?…I have done 3 exorcisms and I know for a fact the issue on this planet is very serious-people who act and seem normal start convulsing and making sounds after as little as 30 seconds praying in Jesus name…we are nearing the last days

  13. marcol says:

yahoo is the most racist site on the net those scum bags should lose their license. they vilotate my rights of free speach and i should be able to sue them for that. if anyone knows who i should see to sue them please let me know.ive had enough of their agravation.thank you.

  14. Nunya says:

    **** YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. YKBSX says:

Yahoo sucks! It was vulnerable to Yahoo Kick Booter which many users abuse it to piss off others. And I don’t like the Report Violation on Yahoo Answer! The Admins must be sucking ****!

  16. dee says:

Did yahoo censor you? I think they scan all e-mails and that is where all the erroneous mail is coming from or maybe MSN. Who knows.

I have been having a lot of trouble lately. I have a sneaking suspicion it might be coming from MSN.

  17. William says:

Yahoo is filled with ideological editors. If your website doesn’t meet muster, then you get banned. Leftist web sites are approved as a given. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been called names for posting “non hate” speech and siting facts only to have been constantly banned. Others may call me the most horrible names and yet they post with immunity.

I am encouraging people to divest in Yahoo and reinvest in more freedom respecting browsers.

    Yes, and Yahoo, sucks.

    William Cisson

    • Uncle Sam says:

TRUE! Leftist Yahoo Censoring ********! I’ve been banned more than once. Doesn’t matter if it’s sites, comments, “answers” they are strictly an “in house” operation.

Hey, remember when they were sending employees on dates to keep guys signed up on their dating site? Talk about some F’ed up sh*t. They’re the same bunch of losers they’ve always been.

  18. ISO 9000 says:

it also done with me and now i am facing very bad experience with yahoo answers , they suspended my account and not activating it.

  19. I wouldn’t worry too much about not being indexed in Yahoo. I’ve worked really hard to optimize the website for my cleaning business for every possible related keyword.

I rank on the first page for nearly every possible term in the Yahoo serps, and not even close to the first page for most of the same terms in Google’s serps. In fact many of the terms that I’m targeting I rank either 1, 2, or 3 in Yahoo.

Yet nearly all of my traffic still comes from Google. So far this month:

    Google: 593 Unique Visitors
Yahoo: A Whopping 14 Unique Visitors!

Clearly no one even uses Yahoo for search. And to think that I was all excited when I started ranking for my keywords in Yahoo.

Yahoo’s other services are great, but it’s just not really used for search anymore.

  20. Mike M says:

Well, I thought I’d just go around telling MY story, even if it does nothing but make me feel slightly better.

For 10 years, I’ve had an account with Yahoo. I’m a member of groups, I do searches, I had dozens of saved emails, and I even had a couple of fantasy sports leagues (and I just won a championship! Hurrah, for me.)

Then last week, I thought I’d go and help people over at Yahoo! Answers. I was answering questions left and right, being thoughtful and thorough (maybe a bit wordy, too), and I was getting “best answers” left and right.

Then, last night, somebody asked what 10 things you’d take with you if you were stranded on a desert island. Somebody else answered, “I don’t care as long as there aren’t any black people on the island.” I posted a reply, flaming this guy.

Today: my account’s gone, and Yahoo won’t answer my emails. All the little sad bits and pieces of my life that I was stupid enough to entrust to Yahoo! are gone. Thank YOU, yahoo!

    Another satisfied customer.

  21. Saugot says:

Hi, to all. I never use yahoo, msn, rediff. It is google all in one. They are the best now. They understand both humanly and technically. Yahoo is already eating dirt, but if they continue to harass their customers, they wil suffer big time.

  22. emotionalinvalid says:

Thank You Elliot C. Back for letting me speak freely.

btw, A few years ago I contacted the BBC. This was during that time when yahoo blogs and message forums were the greatest in the world( just the polar opposite of what they are today: a virtual “big brother” eraser of dissent. IMHO yahoo was the best free speech forum because they were so easily accessible to all, no matter your intelligence or socio-economic position in life. And most of all because they were unmoderated. The few creeps who were truly threatening–e.g. because they were scaring the **** out of some folks by hacking into their identities and telling them they knew their addresses, and were going to do this and that to those they were truly and scarily trolling–were dealt with via law enforcement. Censoring does nothing to stop these rare truly dangerous folks. Being offensive and dangerous are two separate things that yahoo could not distinguish…but anyway, i digress…continue…)

The BBC had no forums, message boards, what have you. I mentioned to them they might get more hits to their web site if they posted comments to news and features on their website or their other media.

This may sound delusional and far fetched but I am the one who coined the phrase “have your say”.

Now it is a generic term all over European english service news media sites.

I did not even get a thank you from the BBC.

I come up with catch phrases, terminology, and effective “copy” all the time. If anyone can help me to get my fair percent of compensation, at least credit for, for my contributions in this area, I would appreciate it.

  23. emotionalinvalid says:

Yahoo is terrible regarding free speech. They have a double standard regarding destroying your account. Right wingers get away with saying the most offensive things, even making threats. If you are liberal or to the left, you make a couple justifiably scathing replies to a “con” on a political message board, you are locked out of your account…i.e. say goodbye to any cherished notes, emails, photos, blogs, etc that you keep in their web based email accounts.

Several times I opened a new account and used the same message board i.d. with a slightly different spelling. Sooner or later I get the new account deleted by yahoo, Just for telling one of these members of the 101st chairborne warmongers they can stick their American imperialism where the sun don’t shine. I am an American and am proud to be so. But I object to the well documented US military/industrial complex’s overt and covert ops
overseas post world war 2. 911 was not a cause, it was an effect since the US overthrow of Iranian democracy for oil in 1953, and continued covert and overt(since 1990)meddling by dem and republican administrations meddling in the middle east basically all for the same thing:oil. Defense of Israel is a distraction.

For me its just too much work to back up your yahoo email account everyday to your hard drive.

For me, its good riddance to yahoo.

p.s. the late 90’s to mid 2000’s, yahoo had the greatest open, unmoderated message boards and discussion forums. Every news and feature article had a message board. They got millions of hits on those boards and thus lots of Ad revenue. They closed them down because some wimpy hypocritical cons got offended by strong replies to their posts. If you can’t take the heat, stay out the kitchen. But no, yahoo shot themselves in the foot by removing that great discussion vehicle. And they continue to loose money because they are over reactive to hypocritical wimps who complain about being benignly “trolled” or “dissed”, whatever, in a discussion forum, message board etc

    • Uncle Sam says:

You will get banned for being vicious. You’re even doing it here. This post is not about YOUR political views. It’s about yahoo.

No wonder you get banned. And for the record- for you to talk that way to the guy who’s taking a bullet for you… you should be banned from America.

      • Chris says:

YOU GO UNCLE SAM!!!!This moron is a piece of ****!

        • CompuLOL says:

Well; he did talked about how much Yahoo! sucks; and isn’t that the reason we’re all here to begin with? You can’t assume by the ending, how their org conversation went. They might have started ‘baitsulting’ him; very much like saying “This moron is a piece of ****!” So in actuality; the only ones being really vicious around here are you two… (Chris & Uncle Sam)

  24. undoc says:

Who cares about Yahoo? they don’t act like professionals, they are just the corner of the backyard of Google. Just add your content to Google and I bet Yahoo and MSN will pick it up . Not only their search engine sucks and does not display the results I want, they keep changing their homepage and they add annoying useless stuff. and Yahoo answers? Well, “how is babby formed” is a good example of their world.

  25. Ben W. says:

I`ve had the same problem with yahoo answers also.I was recently told my account was suspended, but I couldnt find out why.I knew I wasnt in violation of “community guidelines”.Its just as well though, because its a racket over there.Employee trolls deliberately try to get certain users suspended.

  26. HS says:

Instead of bithcing about Yahoo! why dont you make your own Internet company.

    • whatever says:

hahahaha yahoo employee trying to defend his pathetic company. fagass.

    • Chad says:

Yep, I have had the same issues. 50% of my answers were selected as favorites – I was banned and still don’t know why.

HS – you’re an idiot! You either have no idea what you are talking about or are affiliated with Yahoo.

I will be removing ALL affiliation with Yahoo & recommending my business associates do the same.

    • Geo says:

*** off *****……YAHOO is the fukn worst search engine on the fukn net…..there a buch of punk fukn ******* that dont know anything else but to ban good users….
There fukd up rules dont ad up to there reasons for bannishment….you can log in with a new user name/account, go to yagoo answers and answer 5 fukn questions and be banned in less than 15 minutes…..

      I hope they burn.

  27. Henry says:

Hi People!!! I’m looking for some support. Yahoo has banned my site unfairly without previous warning or something. Many webmaster are frustrated with they way that Yahoo applies their guidelines. I opened some threat’s in their Yahoo Site Explorer Forum asking for help. After 3 months and several messages they answered me something that I’m not agree. I told them what they don’t want to hear.

I’d like that you please take a read at it, if you’re agree with what I’m saying to Yahoo, please give me some support in the thread. Yahoo uses to ban websites without any consent, and I think this isn’t fear. Please, I’m just asking for some support in the thread.

Here is the thread url: suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=SiteExplorer&fid=151278

    Thanks to everybody.

  28. jkjkhardcore says:

Their web search sucks I use google
their mail SUCKS! 3000 unread messages for someone who barely uses mail of spam and junk filters dont work reporting does not work. it’s worthless.
their Y!A’s was the only thing I found fun. I answered 1000 questions and then ran into a troll who reported me with his 30 accounts. I tried to talk it out with their crappy customer care but they said your banned anyways! They freaking suspended me for this question:
Someone asks help with an organic chemistry problem
Someone answers : Well pitbulls don’t know nothing about that(obvius spam and the guy who was trolling)
Me: Don’t let pitbull do your homework here are some good books on organic chemistry [LINK] good luck.

  29. ansi says:

Yahoo not only suck, they are also identity/information thieves and they sell personal information from peoples emails to their 3rd party partners.

  30. Toadphillips says:

Yahoo Sucks bad. If they don’t want people to enjoy themselves on a site why don’t they make a 2nd site that’s not made for 10 year olds.

Where you can disscus things without a Report Abuse button under your name.

What does yahoo answers promote? Snitching and being fake so you don’t get in trouble.

What a ridiculous company. Google should buy them out and shut them down.

  31. Anyone that restricts freedom of speech is a Yahoo!

Anyone that restrains trade is a Yahoo!

Anyone that can not cope with rapid growth is a Yahoo!

Anyone that is pretentious enough to ask you to “suggest a site” is a Yahoo!

Anyone that sells or buys over-valued stock (like Yahoo’s) is a Yahoo!

Anyone that uses Yahoo is a Yahoo!

  32. anon says:

Go complaint about it on www.theybannedme.com

    • Chris says:

Up yours..I got YOUR account banned because you did it to me because im not liberal! How does it feel Anon???

  33. Melissa says:

i was just banned on yahoo becasue someone came in a chat room and told my that some women was running around with my photo and calling her self me and told yahoo i was her so i changed my profile photo to a cat and to my eyes i was banned couldnt get any of my work papers from my email nothing they sent me a ltter to my old yhaoo account saying if i didnt change my profile i would be banned for life. but how can i change my profile if they dont let me log in or anything its just ****

  34. p1nk g33k says:

Oh, yeah, Melbourne IT. I had to deal with the rudest lady. I think Melbourne IT is a small little office with one lady in there. I spoke to her each time I called. They charged me $15 or $20 to transfer the domain to another registrar because I, like you, refused to pay their ridiculous renewal fees.

  35. p1nk g33k says:

Don't worry. I can't tell you the last time that I used Yahoo to search for something. I think everyone would agree that Google pretty much won the search engine war.

  36. […] Yahoo Sucks… oh yes they do… […]

  37. Brett says:

Yea Yahoo does suck. Maybe they should worry more about the quality of service and their search engine vs. trying to ban honest people. I had an account for 13 years and was banned for posting my website and other websites, directing people at Yahoo questions to their answer.

I guess it's no surprise that their STOCKS ARE DOWN 50%. You suck Yahoo.

  38. acer says:

Yep i agree. I used yahoo answers to promote my site while giving quality answers about something i know a great deal about. I was very helpful and stayed out of baited arguments by other members. Trust me, anyone thinking about using yahoo ansers to bring in people to their site should give it a miss. You may go great for a few weeks to a few months and than bang your gone. Right now im trying to find out if this is going to affect my website and have it removed from yahoo search engine. I wont lie im pretty worried about it. Sure yahoo brings in hardly any search traffic at all but who know maybe the tide will turn and yahoo may rule over google in time, you just dont know. Has anyone had their site taken out of yahoo search engine because they used yahoo ansews as promotion?

This next line is to help people find this page in the engines as no one really has coined a phrase that will answer these questions.

will getting banned from yahoo answers get my website removed from yahoo search engine

  39. Big Wally says:

Yahoo Answers is a giant headache. The employees pose as ordinary users and bait others into arguments, causing account deletions and users being banned. When you try to voice your complaint on their “forum”, the regular trolls who reside there attack you and eventually you get banned from posting there. Yahoo allows the trolls to roam there and do as they please. As soon as someone has a legitimate complaint, you’re gone. Until Yahoo “cleans up house”, Yahoo Answers is totally worthless.

    • lucy says:

Absolutely rigth. The free email is ok. But, everything about Yahoo is baised, untrustworthy, and obsolete. I will never use it again.

      • m says:

agreed; their mail is indeed ok, but every other aspect sucks. there are no longer forums per se, but you can always comment on the silly news articles nowadays. but beware if you do so… i mistakenly did; and my account got hacked by spammers right away. i must admit it was my fault up to a point, for taking their bait to begin with; but still, dunno how they did it. site ref seemed legit; so wtf?! makes me wonder about the very real possibility of those trolls being actual employees also…

  40. Rich Holland says:

I’ve had similar issues with Yahoo answers, after having back surgery I could not work for 1 year, but wanted to keep my mind active. Everyday I would log into yahoo and proceed to the yahoo answers area, then answer as many computer questions as I could. From time to time I would input my web address link to a solution I had written myself, apparently they didn’t like that. I got no warning at all, just an email stating that I had violated their TOS and my account was suspended. While I could care less about yahoo and having an account there, it did strike me as odd that they would frown of people trying to help other people for free. I suppose they could view it as my trying to use their service for advertising but that was not the case. I suspect that Yahoo will be facing some serious changes in the months to come, with the mass exodus of upper level executives leaving the company, time will tell.

  41. Scott Barker says:

I’ve never cared much for Yahoo. In my opinion, Google is much better!

  42. Tammy says:

Looks like you are back on yahoo. Can you post an update to what you did to get re-included? did you submit for a rereview and if so did you make any changes before doing so? I’m in the same situation as you were. It’s nice to know there is someone who made it back in the results.

  43. michael says:

ylts.t for adut Yahoo. a lot better out there. Yahoo is for kids who need a daddy. Nos nothing good abouahoo is just a bunch of antichristians who love to be the control freaks they are. they have no accountability. So they do what ever they wish to do.Just have nothing to do with them. It is all junk any how. there i

  44. John says:

I’ve had the exact same thing happen with my Yahoo! Answers account it was suspended for some reason and they won’t tell me why. I’ve emailed them multiple times but get the same copy paste answer.

I’ve had a similar experience with Yahoo Answers. I’ve been using Yahoo for over ten years and have been a paying customer, yet they suspend my Yahoo Answers account with no real reason given. Typically, Yahoo Answer accounts are suspended because other users who read the answers don’t like the opinion and “report” the answer. Since I regularly contribute to the Religion and Spirituality section and am an atheist, I get reported frequently. I explained this to Yahoo, who gave me the following form letter response:

    Hello ,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Answers.

We appreciate your inquiry about your suspension from Yahoo! Answers
and/or the deactivation of your Yahoo! ID. We reviewed your case, and
decided that your account is not eligible for reinstatement.

Once an account is disabled for a violation of the Terms of Service, the
subscriber to the account will lose the ability to log in and access the
account and its contents (including email and content stored with any
other Yahoo! service). The account also will not be reactivated.

Should you choose to create a new Yahoo! account, we invite you to read
the Yahoo! Terms of Service and Yahoo! Community Guidelines to help
ensure your new account is not deactivated.

On the bright site, you do rank #1 for the term “yahoo site explorer sucks” which I suspect will be a very popular search term. Same thing happened to me and a zillion other legit webmasters.
